Green facility in Windsor Park features high speed four-fold doors

The newest WFPS facility in Windsor Park features 5 high-speed four-fold doors. These doors clear the opening at an average speed of 24 inches per second compared to conventional overhead and coiling doors which operate at 8-12 inches per second.  This high speed operation minimizes heating and cooling loses and reduces waiting time to improve energy efficiency and productivity.

Another advantage of these horizontal movement doors is their visibility.  In urgent situations, drivers will naturally start driving through a door opening of an overhead door after losing sight of the bottom of the overhead door,  often hitting it before it clears. With horizontal doors, the opening motion is completely visible at all times,  allowing the driver to know the precise location of the trailing edge of the door.

These doors are designed to perform over 1 million cycles with a general yearly preventative maintenance schedule.  They include hinge guards that limit access to the hinge gap at each jamb and alert personnel to keep the area clear as well as fail-safe bump edges that sense obstructions that the phone eye and interior presence sensor may miss. They also include exterior light curtain photo eyes that provide continuous protection from the floor to 72″ in height to sense both objects and personnel in the area.
